0

An Adobe study recently released to the general audience estimated that tablet users spent on average around $123 per purchase during 2011, that’s 54% more than visitors using cell phones.

John Mellor, working VP in Adobe’s business department said in an interview that:  “Mobile is no longer a one-size-fits-all-strategy. It’s like saying you have an Internet strategy. You have to get more granular. Audiences are really different,” . He recommends all retailers to segment their customers aiming to more specific markets, taking into account different behaviors and social groups. He believes future marketing strategies are heading in that direction.

The study also indicated that tablet visitors account for a fast growing segment in terms of website browsing. Statistics show that the segment went from 1% in January 2011 to 4% in December 2011. The rapport underlined two main reasons why tablet visitors are becoming more valuable in comparison to smartphone, desktop and laptop visitors: tablet users are browsing more websites than those that are using other devices. The study also pointed out to the fact that tablet users conducted more shopping. Is this going in a favorable direction since …

Five Tips On How To Handle Your New Smartphone

0

If you got a smartphone for Christmas you probably noticed by now that there is no explicit manual in the box and you probably have to learn everything yourself. You can learn a lot by testing the product yourself but there are a couple of general concepts that are not that obvious, which can take years to finally grasp. Here are the basics of using a smartphone.

1.       Manage the battery life

You must have been surprised when you saw that the shiny colors and the 4-inch screen depletes your battery in less than two days. We all have. It’s important to get the most out of your battery and for that reason you need to decrease the screen brightness to 50 percent. You won’t notice a difference anyway.

The next step is to disable the Bluetooth and to turn off automated mail retrieval. If you are operating an Android smartphone disable the animated wallpaper.

2.       Properly tap the screen

People don’t often realize how sensitive the touchscreen really is. Novices most always “stab” the screen or …

Nokia Fails to Regain Market Share

0

The highly anticipated Nokia smartphone has failed to take over Apple and Google smartphones, despite tremendous positive feedback received from critics. It’s becoming increasingly difficult for the Windows OS platform to find its way to the top where Android and iOS are holding the ground. The first model Nokia launched, the Lumia 800, managed to reach only 2% of the European market, according to a survey performed by Exane BNP Paribas.

There was nothing wrong with the new sleek-looking Nokia devices besides the minor software issues that were affecting battery life, but unfortunately the customers weren’t persuaded to buy. Microsoft-based smartphones hold 2% of the market share, which is significantly lower compared to Apple at 20% and Android at 50%.Pierre Ferragu, analyst for Bernstein said that “there isn’t much room left for a third ecosystem. The smartphone market is consolidating fast.”

Since October 26, Nokia has lost 20% of its market share and experts predict that Nokia won’t be able to keep up with the trend. Surprisingly, the phones operating Symbian are still selling well outnumbering Windows-based devices 10 to 1. But Nokia is gradually shifting towards Windows …

0

(Reuters) – Apple’s long-awaited iPhone 4S and Samsung Electronics’ fresh, broad offering are likely to stand out in this holiday season’s smartphone sales which will otherwise be clouded by global economic uncertainty.

Last quarter we saw Apple losing its top position as the largest smartphone maker in the world to the number one contender, Samsung. But after the exquisite iPhone 4S launch, we expect the Cupertino-based manufacturer to gain the number one spot in a couple of months. Customers had to wait 16 months to get their hands on the new iPhone and most of them say it was worth it.

In the U.K., which is the leading indicator of the European Market, the iPhone sales took a 43% market share in the first month of the fourth quarter, taking over Android-based smartphones, according to a study performed by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics told us that “It’s really only the iPhone family and the (Samsung) Galaxy family flying off the shelves. Everyone else is just picking up the leftovers.”

On the fourth and fifth position we have HTC and RIM, which were predicted to …
