This is a continuation of Part 1. This article describes the two last components for creating your home entertainment kit using your Wii game console system. The parts that we will be discussing are:

 

    3. The Wii Component Cable

3. Wii Component Cable

 

The difference between your normal Wii graphics and when you have your HD TV hooked in is pretty dramatic. But you can get more video quality juice by adding a new component to the system: the Wii Component Cable.
This should not be mistaken for the standard AV(audio visual) cable that the Wii system comes with. What is packed in the box is not the Component Cable. This standard cable is basically a single cable that carries the picture signal from your Wii to your TV. The cable has 3 cables in it: green, red and blue. When the signal transmitted through these cables reaches the TV, it combines and gives us the full picture that we see.
The downside for using a standard cable is that the signals from each cable are fighting to reach the TV in the same time. This causes significant picture quality loss. Now, with Wii Component Cable things are completely different. This cable has 3 individual video cables, each carrying its own color signal to your TV, from your gaming console. Unlike the standard cable, the signal is coordinated between the cables and it reaches the TV in the same time. The price for this cable is relatively cheap and the Wii Component Cable is not your only option. You can also buy other good quality cables with the same functionality as the Nintendo one, and usually for a cheaper price.

 

4. The Wii Internet Channel

 

This is a website browser designed by Nintendo specifically for your Wii gaming console. Using the channel you can surf the web and get the stuff you want directly through your Wii. The Nintendo web browser doesn’t come in the console box, and you will have to log into Wii Shop and download it .The web browser is free, so you don’t need to buy anything. The Nintendo Website has a point system for purchasing applications and downloading this software will cost you 500 points. But you don’t need to worry about this. You will have plenty of things to choose from and you will be able to afford them using the point system.
Unfortunately, the Wii has no hardware functionality for playing CDs and sometimes getting your mp3s on your SD card can become a challenge. The web browser offers other alternatives for listening to music. You can stream internet radio stations directly into your Wii. All you need to do is type in the name of the artists and you will get a list of radios that play them.
But since most people watch videos and listen to music on Youtube, Wii Internet Channel allows you to do that as well and both Youtube and Nintendo have created a free website for their Wii users for this purpose.

The Wii console is a great entertainment system if you are able to pay for some extra components that will offer you the experience that you are looking for. These components are not cheap, but they aren’t that expensive either. And they become more affordable every year, since the prices are coming down. The Wii game console is a console designed for playing games. And what a great console system that is. People don’t usually give Nintendo credits for the entertaining value of their products because they don’t usually count on Wii to deliver the same quality as PS3 for example. But with a few extra components, you can turn your Wii into a great entertaining kit for your home. You don’t need to sell Wii and get the PS3, you just need to get a bit creative. Here is what your need in order to create the kit:

1. High Definition TV

 

You say that don’t have HD capabilities on your Wii? Don’t worry, you still have another option and it’s called HD TV. Although the console itself doesn’t have HD capabilities, the Nintendo graphics still offer an amazing display quality. By connecting your gaming console to a HD TV you will improve the graphics significantly.
If you are thinking to purchase a good HD TV, you need to look at one that uses the latest technology, the 1080 pixel HD TV. These devices are labeled with the hallmark “true HD” and they are the best option available on the market, offering the greatest quality. 2. The Home Theater Surround System

 

The surround and home theater systems have become increasingly popular in the past decade. The home theater is defined by those 4 speakers placed in each corner of the room, a speaker placed near the TV station and a subwoofer for sound control and bass. This setup is the 5.1 surround sound systems that we all know.
The 5.1 sound system defines how DVDs and CDs are built. All of them are programmed to support this technology. So whenever you play a sound, a movie, a song, the sound will come out appropriately distributed through the 6 speakers. For example, the left speaker in the room will play a sound that you hear coming from the left side of the screen. The experience that you get from listening to a 5.1 system has a high degree of realism.
An important note regarding the Wii System is that it does not have built-in capabilities for the 5.1 surround sound system. The technology is emulated through the application called Dolby Pro Logic II. This software technology distributes the sound through the 6 speakers. There is actually no difference in sound quality between a genuine programmed system for 5.1 and an emulated one through Dolby Technology.
In order to make your Wii system work for 5.1 sound system, you need to buy a home theater that supports Dolby Pro Logic II settings. This should not be a problem since most modern home theater audio systems have this technology built-in.
So there you have it, the perfect sound using your very own Wii Console game system.

A lot of people will think that the price gets too high already with these 2 first components, but you have to keep in mind that these devices aren’t only for your Wii, you will also use them many years to come. Internet is buzzing with the question of “Which video gaming console should I buy, PS3 or Wii”. People all over the world are trying to understand what are the most significant factors that should affect their decision. PS3 is different than Wii, but in what ways, we should discuss further. These gaming consoles are beyond the simple gaming style. After reading many reviews only, a lot of gamers chose to sell their consoles and buy a different one. For example, some people chose to sell PS3 and buy a Wii. Some people sold everything they had and after a few months they bought a xbox 360. Casual gaming VS Hardcore gaming

 

The most important thing know about Wii is that it was designed for beginners. Sure, the gaming console can perfectly match the hardcore needs, but it’s basic purpose is to introduce new players into the realm of games. The gaming experience is very important for Nintendo. Their focus was more on creating a more fun gaming experience than to offer the more hardcore features that would somehow hinder this aspect of the games. Also, Wii is the number one choice for people that want to play with their friends. It’s an amazing social experience.
The Playstation 3 is the hardcore gaming console. It was designed for the purpose of performance and competition. Even visually, when you at the console, you can sense it’s “bad as*” quality. The HD Graphics, the console’s sleek dark lines and the massive storage space were all designed to the experienced gamers. PS3 is for the avid gamer that wants to compete and takes gaming pretty seriously.

 

Graphics

 

The Wii graphics are incredibly good considering the fact that they don’t feature High Definition Technology. Most Wii games use a lot of bright, crisp graphics. That’s why they appeal to younger players more or to the adult that wants to remind himself of childhood. The playful and also relaxed gaming experience is the hallmark of Wii Games.

 

Type of Games

 

Wii has an ease to their games. That is why most people buy the console. You just pick up a game and play it for hours without reading too many tutorials and learning the bindings. Wii games are more intuitive to play and the mote controller is not that difficult to master. The emphasis is definitely on the fun aspect of gaming and not on winning.
PS3 games are a total different stories. Their games are more well thought, more difficult and more storyline based. Actually, most of the games have a huge movie production part. Nintendo has focused more on offering the gaming experience for the least expense on performance. The games are also cheaper, compared to the PS3 games, because they are less complicated. PS3 is more expensive, going for almost $400 in the US, but the features are well worth the price. Entertainment System

 

Wii is mainly designed for playing games, and surf the web though the consoles web browser. Also, you can’t play a CD or a DVD.Unlike Wii, the PS3 has more features designed for entertainment purposes, like the Blu Ray build-in DVD player. Just like your computer, the Sony’s gaming console can play CDs, DVDs and m3 files.

 

Online Features

 

The Wii online repository is vast but a lot of them can’t be played with other people. You can download software and games from the Wii Shop. Every week new content is released. Nintendo focuses more on creating a friendly social network for their gamers base though Miis. Besides games, friends can also chat and share photos.
Sony, on the other hand did not focus that much on the social networking capabilities, hence the fact that there still problems with the social network platform called “Home”. Also, PS3 offer similar online features as the Wii Shop but it’s more oriented on playing games online versus other people.

 

Overall which ever console you chose to buy, either you buy used or new you receive the same gaming experience. The online market is full of used gaming consoles that are still in a great shape for even less the half of their initial price. You can sell old one and buy a used one and pay almost no extra money, depending on what you want.

Why PlayStation3 Is the Number One Gaming Console

The console market welcomes new enthusiastic people every day. When it comes to choosing a good gaming console, people have widely diversified opinions. In the past things, were less confusing and people had fewer options to choose from. When it came out, Playstation console dominated the market and soon after, PS2 meet the same recognition and success. But what about PS3? Will it be the number one gaming console and for how long? Here is why Playstation will hold the grounds in the gaming industry for many years to come.

 

The Xbox360

 

This is a great gaming console but it has some significant flaws. Xbox360 was actually launched to rival the PS3 and it does it well to some extent. Although their specifications are somewhat similar, Gizmodo estimated a 30% failure rate for the Microsoft product. The Xbox 360 is trying to maintain a good market position in America but Japan and Europe doesn’t seem to praise the console anytime soon. Japan is one of the greatest gaming consumers in the world and PS3 was highly appreciated in this country.

 

The Wii

 

Just like it’s rival Xbox 360, this console has a couple of issues that hopefully they will get fixed in the near future. The problem with Wii is their games. Not everyone enjoys playing Hannah Montana, Barbie and other childlike themed games. There are a couple of amazing games like Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy but like any other old school games, they will soon find their way into the drawer or on a dusty shelf. Also, Wii uses old technology and as proven, it doesn’t sell that well. The HD capabilities that other consoles have embraced doesn’t seem to appeal to Nintendo, and they will probably never will. That is another reason that puts Sony on the number one spot.

 

Dropping Price

 

The great thing about this industry is that the prices are dropping fast. At the beginning, the Sony gaming console was simply unreachable to the vast majority of us. At this moment, PS3 sits around $400 and it will probably drop even further in the near future. This alone is enough to convince people to purchase them. If the price of PS3 goes down on a steady peace, it will eventually claim it’s number one position just because they will turn out be the cheapest gaming console for the money.

 

Blu-Ray Wins

 

Blu-Ray has chosen to be the standard format for PS3. Blu-Ray players are still incredibly expensive at this moment and we aren’t sure if the format will remain the same for the next couple of years. Probably the number one long term feature of PS3 is this 2 in 1 capability.

 

Sony’s Huge Fan Base

 

Like all the great features of PS3 aren’t enough, Sony has a lot of faithful supporters that literally buy every one of their new releases. The fan bases reached an estimate of a hundred million people all over the world. Sony was actually counting on their fans when they released such an expensive gaming console. And it was a wise move.

It’s very hard not to realize when you look around, that things have changed significantly when it comes to people’s hobbies. A mental epidemic that is both subtle as well as silent, since most people do not admit they have a problem. World of Warcraft has already a player base of 11 million players after 7 years since its launch and many other games have many other few million player bases. Not only that, but new games are coming forward and gamers jump from one game to another hopping this one will be different. Since an average player spends several hours every day playing his favorite game, he has no friends anymore and he is very frustrated outside his gaming console or computer. Looking at the situation we can safely assume that he has a problem.

 

But how did this problem occurred? And why do people get so attached to their games. Usually a player play multiples games not just one. If you have friends that play a lot of games try to not give up on them. Forget their bitterness and hope they will soon realize how important their real life and friends are. In a couple years they will make more money than the movie companies, if they are not already. But video games mean “serious business”, for both the companies and the players.

 

Not too long ago, when you wanted to play a video game, you had to buy a very expensive gaming console, purchase a couple of games and spend a few hours in front of your TV, entertaining yourself. The games at that time weren’t that strong for our psyche and few people could actually spend more than a few hours a day playing them. But now, with the vast industry of MMO (massive multiplayer online) games, the situation is completely different. Video games are more captivating, much more real and even more than that, unlike the old days, now you can play with real people. Real people that you interact with and form bounds, real friendship using the virtual world of gaming.

 

It’s not hard to give up on the game itself, but to give up on your friends. Our natural tendency to form friendships binds us to the games, and it’s not the game itself. Our brains link the video gaming experience to the feelings we get when we interact with other people. For our brains, it is all REAL. The games give us a social status and a place where we feel appreciated for our skills. Unlike the real world, where the social progression is hindered by an great amount of factors and getting anything done requires a lot of work and stress, in the gaming world everything flows naturally. We “kill” this creature and we get this amount of “points” and we then use those points to buy this in game “item” which makes us stronger, popular and useful inside the game. It is all straightforward and linear. But not the real world. The real world is much more complex and harder to deal with and there are few rewards.

 

When you ask a teenager if he is addicted to videogames and if he wants to sell used video games to break his habit, you will get an unpleasant response. First, he will tell you that he is control of what he is doing and playing game is his everyday choice and second, if he wants to sell his used video games he will find a way to do it online.
