Trade2save.com no longer require credit cards ti be filled in by new customers wanting to trade-in. It was originally put in place for security reasons, but is not actually necessary under the letter of the law. This will be of interest a number of potential customers who have complained of the necessity. Now customers can trade-in their games and receive a check in the post (or by pay pal) without the need of disclosing a credit card, something which many Americans today are tearing up in an attempt to cut back on mounting debts.
Trade2save will also allow “buy and sell” transactions without credit card details, however, customers will need to send in their trades first. With a credit card or a verified pay pal account, customers can receive their purchases first and then send in their trade-ins back.
Trade2save will also soon be accepting checks as payment on trading transactions, so if you buy an iPhone and trade-in you old cell phone, and have $100 to pay you’ll soon be able to send your trade-in with a check, and once cleared, your Iphone will be sent Priority Mail.
Trade2save.com for a limited time will be giving each new member signed up a free $5 worth of store credit with no strings attached. This kind of give away may be seen by many as a throw away, but Chris Whittome doesn’t see it that way. ” It’s hard enough to get people to visit your site, but it’s worth every dime if you can just get them to make that 1 first transaction… Once people start trusting a site and feel comfortable after a good online experience, you’re much more likely to use it again.
Having spent nearly 2 decades in the advertising and marketing industry, Chris Whittome has been involved in a number of unusual direct marketing campaigns. “Giving people $5 isn’t really that creative, but it does open doors for us. I was once involved in direct marketing campaign for Sky Digital TV in the UK. The brand managers wanted a campaign that showed how many different channels you could order under the same package. So we did a deal with Domino’s Pizza to create a special Sky Pizza to be delivered free to every customer - each slice had a different topping to represent the different choice of channels you had under one roof, all catering for different tastes in the family…. I think Domino’s sold more Pizzas than Sky sold satellite dishes… sometimes its better not to be too creative”
The $5 offer is expected to last for the next few weeks.
Week 2 at trade2save.com almost ground to a halt as staff were inundated with more than 250 orders on Friday. Even wives of staff members came to the rescue through Saturday and Sunday to put things back on track. “This was not what were were expecting” said CEO Chris Whittome - “For some reason customers just attacked the DVD movies and Games and we just couldn’t keep up with the orders… I was expecting things to maybe start picking up around Christmas and hadn’t really thought about fulfillment issues, but I guess word has gone around the Bay Area quicker than we could have hoped”. Trade2save launched 2 weeks ago quietly and through word of mouth people have started visiting the site.
Jesse Wakefield, Warehouse Manager adds “The prices we can give for trade-ins is more competitive than store - we don’t have the over heads like retail rents and dozens of staff, so in the long run, we can offer better value for money and a hassle free service as well”.
Trade2save is now recruiting for interns to help as the Christmas months draw closer, more details about how you can apply for a position will follow soon
